It was the need to pay o parking tickets that drew Bonnie Young to the fashion business. “I wanted to be an artist, but I had to nd a way to make money,” she says, recalling multiple trips to the pound to retrieve her car. A friend got her a paid internship at Ralph Lauren, a gig she worked all through college and that led to opportunities abroad.
But it was a chance meeting with Donna Karan that yielded the ideal job for Young— one that lasted 16 years, saw her based in Milan and enabled her to travel the globe sourcing inspiration, colors and materials.
